HE: What are your impressions?
The Ryders: We were quite impressed with the overall quality of the dogs, the general level seems to be better than what we saw in the Netherlands recently. The dogs were in general well presented and handled, though there were some who obviously were at show for the first time.
HE: What are the strengths and weaknesses?
The Ryders: There were not really many weaknesses, though movement in many countries has lost its quality. And we like good movers, that is a good workmanlike trot with a good drive from the rear, and certainly radiating positive feelings. Some of the dogs just were not showing themselves best – with more training many would improve. We were happy to see only a few dogs short of legs with long body, that has become more and more common in the British showring.
HE: People found you strict judges, as you were also giving “goods” that are not so common. Any comments?
The Ryders: The Club provided us with the grading guidelines and we tried to stick to these. But “good” does not mean it’s a bad dog; it is a good, typical Golden but who perhaps today didn’t show itself to advantage or was difficult to assess because of the lack of training. That is our advice: some of your dogs would certainly get higher grades with more advantageous trimming or better handling that would allow judges to see their strengths better. But, really, there were no dogs that we found lacking overall and I wish you all luck in the future.

HE: Millised on Teie muljed?
Ryderid: Meil on väga hea üldmulje teie koertest; üldine tase tundub olevat tugevam kui see, mida me nägime hiljuti Hollandis. Koerad olid üldiselt hästi esitatud, kuigi oli ka neid, kes ilmselt olid esmakordselt näitusel.
HE: Millised on meie koerte tugevad ja nõrgad küljed?
Ryderid: Me ei näinud tõsiselt nõrku külgi, kuigi liikumine on paljudes maades alla käinud. Ja me hindame just häid liikujaid, st head töökoerale omast traavi tugeva taganttõukega, kes kiirgab head tahet ja indu. Mõned koerad ei näidanud end kuigi heast küljest – kindlasti aitaks nende parem treenimine. Meil oli hea meel, et siin ei tundu olevat Briti näituseringis üha tavaliseks muutuvat madalajalgset pika kerega kuldse retriiveri tüüpi.
HE: Inimeste jaoks olite karmid kohtunikud; meil pole harjutud hindega “hea”. Kuidas seda kommenteerite?
Ryderid: Klubi andis meile hindamisjuhised ja me üritasime neist kinni pidada. “Hea” ei tähenda ju halba koera; see on hea, tüüpiline kuldne, kes aga täna ei näidanud end parimast küljest ja tema häid külgi oli raske hinnata treeningu puudumise tõttu. Kindlasti saavad teie koerad kõrgemaid hindeid koerte voorusi paremini esile toova trimmimise ja kindlama näitamisega. Kuid rõhutaksime veel kord, et tervikuna ei kohanud me ühtki “puudulikku” koera ja soovime kõigile edu tulevikus.

Kohtunike tutvustus:
Joyce ja Arnold Ryder alustasid 1981. a. ühist teed kuldsete retriiveritega, kelleks olid Channri Cerrigold ja Channri Caleb.
Jaskari kasvanduse alusemane oli Westley Rachel of Jaskar (22.2.86 -28.4.00), kes paaritati Sh Ch Stirchley Saxoniga. Selle kombinatsiooni tulemusel sündis Jaskar Jordan – vaimustav koer, kes sai näitustelt häid tulemusi, sh ka 2 serti ja 3 res-serti. Westley Racheli järgmine pesakond Sh Ch. Jobeka Jasper of Nortonwoodiga andis Jaskar Alexanderi, kes läks Hollandisse, kus ta sai häid näitusetulemusi, sh maailmanäituse avaklassi võidu. Westley Racheli tütar Jaskar Amy kombinatsioonis to Sh Ch. Remington Ramseyga andis Jaskar Tarquini, kes läks Poola Andzej Andre Stepinski juurde ja on tänaseks Int Ch. Ta on andnud häid järglasi terves Euroopas. 1994. a. ostsid Ryderid Jamescroft Flaxen Lace’i, kes paaritati hiljem Soneve Mosesega, nende tütar Alisoni koeraga. Sellest ühendusest sündis Jaskar Barnaby, kes läks Saksamaale ja kellest sai sealne tšempion.
Ryderite teine Westley kasvandusest pärist emane oli Westley Jacinda of Jaskar, tema paaritati Sh Ch Elswood the Highlanderiga ning sellest kombinatsioonist sündis Jaskar Christmas Joy (Flo). Viimane andis kombinatsioonis Sh Ch Deloro Gucci with Caninaga Jaskar Vanessa ja Victoria, viimasel oli pesakond 2007. aastal Squirrelsmead Digby of Caninaga. Nii Vanessa kui Victoria on saavutanud näitustel häid tulemusi.
Peale kuldsete retriiverite kasvatavad Ryderid veel siledakarvalisi retriivereid; nende kolmas tõug on karmikarvaline taks – esindaja Sophie, kes on tänaseks tšempion.
Nende teine tõug on siledakarvalised retriiverid. Siin alustasid nad Wizardwood Stormy Water at Jaskariga, kes paaritati Sh Ch. Branchalwood Strathfinnan ning see kombinatsioon pani aluse Jaskarite siledakarvalistele.
Aastal 2000 võtsid nad omale karmikarvalise taksi Sonic Knight Sky to Jaskar, kes tänaseks on saanud tšempioniks!
Ryderid on osalenud Cruftsil kõikide oma koertega.
Mõlemad on peale UK tšempioninäituste hinnanud ka Hollandis ja Joyce ka Saksamaal.
Judges of speciality 9.2.2008 in Tallinn:
Joyce and Arnold Ryder have owned Golden Retrievers since 1981, their first two dogs were Channri Cerrigold and Channri Caleb.
The very special foundation bitch of the Jaskar kennel was Westley Rachel of Jaskar (22.2.86 -28.4.00). She was mated to Sh Ch Stirchley Saxon and produced Jaskar Jordan a super dog who did a great deal of winning, including 2CCs and 3RCCs Westley Rachel’s next litter to Sh Ch. Jobeka Jasper of Nortonwood produced Jaskar Alexander. He went to the Driessens in Holland where he had tremendous success including winning Open Dog at the World Show. Westley Rachel’s daughter Jaskar Amy mated to Sh Ch. Remmington Ramsey produced Jaskar Tarquin he went to Andre Stepinski in Poland, Tarquin is now an International Champion and has proved himself to be an influential sire in Europe.
In 1994 the Ryders brought Jamescroft Flaxen Lace into the Jaskar family. She was subsequently mated to Soneve Moses, owned and bred by their daughter Alison. This mating produced Jaskar Barnaby who went to Germany and in due course became a Champion.
In 1997 the Ryders were fortunate to become the owners of our second Westley bitch, Westley Jacinda. She was from the last litter bred by Joan Gill and Mervyn Philpott. Cindy was mated to Sh Ch Elswood the Highlander from which we have Jaskar Christmas Joy (Flo). Flo was mated to Sh Deloro Gucci with Canina in 2004 and the Ryders kept both the bitches Jaskar Vanessa and Victoria. Both bitches are doing well in the ring, recently Victoria was mated to Sh Ch Squirrelsmead Digby and the Ryders now have Jaskar Charlotte. The Ryders look forward to her debut in the ring in the New Year.
Their other Gundog breed is Flatcoated Retrievers. They started with Wizardwood Stormy Water at Jaskar and mated to Sh Ch. Branchalwood Strathfinnan this founded their Jaskar line in Flatcoats. In 2000 they took a Wirehaired Dachshund as a pet, subsequently Sonic Knight Sky to Jaskar has become a Champion! The Ryders have exhibited at Crufts over the years with all our dogs.
Joyce and Arnold Ryder both judge at Championship Shows, they have both judged in Holland and Joyce in Germany as well.
